Vintage Horror Radio returns today with another radio version of an Edgar Allen Poe story. First published in Burton's Gentlemen's Magazine in September of 1839, The Fall Of The House Of Usher would also be included in Tales Of The Grotesque and Arabesque, a collection of short stories, published the following year. We'll hear the radio adaptation from Escape, which first aired October 22, 1947.

The weirdness continues on this episode of Vintage Horror Radio. We'll hear a radio version of Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask Of Amontillado. Poe's story was first published in Godey's Lady's Book in November of 1846. Our story comes from the January 19, 1953 episode of The Hall Of Fantasy.

This week we'll hear a radio adaptation of a story by Wilkie Collins titled The Ghost's Touch. The story was first published in The Ghost's Touch And Other Stories in 1885. Our radio version first aired September 17, 1944 on The Weird Circle.
Vintage Horror Radio 23
This week it's a classic from Robert Louis Stevenson. First published in 1886, The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde is said to be one of Stevenson's best selling works. We'll hear an adaptation of the story by CBS Radio Mystery Theater. It first aired June 18, 1974.

This week we'll hear a story written by Guy de Maupassant titled The Horla. The story was first published in 1887, and praised by H.P. Lovecraft. It has been said that Lovecraft's story The Call Of Cthulu was inspired by The Horla. We'll hear a radio version from The Weird Circle that first aired October 24, 1943.

This week Vintage Horror Radio presents a story that isn't quite as old as the usual stuff, but good just the same. The Lottery was written by Shirley Jackson, and originally published in The New Yorker in 1948. The story caused quite a bit of controversy for the magazine and Jackson, and was banned in South Africa. For more information on The Lottery, check out the wikipedia page.
